CIOB Africa forms part of the CIOB International network of branches. CIOB International also has branch offices located in China (CIOB China), Hong Kong (CIOB Hong Kong), Malaysia (CIOB Malaysia), Singapore (CIOB Singapore) and Australasia (CIOB Australasia).
The CIOB Africa office is responsible for the delivery of all services and activities for its members located on the African Continent. This includes the coordination of events, seminars and conferences, as well as directly servicing its members with all administration relating to membership applications, payments and the facilitation of professional reviews.
CIOB Africa has over 1000 members, comprising both students and construction professionals. Both groups play an active role in promoting professionalism and innovative thinking in the construction industry. Members are located right around the African continent, in countries as diverse as Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Botswana, Ghana, Namibia, Tanzania and many others. The regions main office is located in Johannesburg South Africa, and services all members on the Africa continent from this administrational base.
Since its launch, CIOB Africa has played an important role in the region by organising events and seminars relevant to the industry and has established close links with Universities, construction professionals, academics and government bodies. The Institute recognises the need for a supply of well-educated and motivated construction managers and has awarded international accreditation in Construction Management to five of South Africa’s leading universities. Courses receiving accreditation include Masters, Bachelors degrees, HND, HNC and other qualifications, which match the requirements of the CIOB Education Framework to an international level.
CIOB Africa provides a vital contribution in the promotion of professionalism and education in the region. Its growing membership is a testament and representation of these professional and academic achievements in the construction industry.
