Associate / Incorporate Membership

Incorporate (ICIOB)

A person who has:

full exemption from CIOB academic requirements

HND in construction or equivalent; or
S/NVQ Level 4 approved by CIOB; or
Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists; or
Other qualifications may be assessed and approved on an individual basis.

Associate (ACIOB)

A person who has either

minimum of an HNC; or
SMTS certificate and diploma; or
NVQ Level 3 - approved by CIOB; or
Other qualifications may be assessed and approved on an individual basis.

All applicants for ACIOB will be not less than 21 years of age and have at least two years experience at higher technician level.

As of 1 July 2009, an amendment to the CIOB's policy governing membership applications came into effect. The amendment stipulates that it is now a requirement for all applicants who have gained a degree through a non CIOB Accredited University or Institute need to undergo an Individual Assessment of their application form. The once off cost of this assessment is R539.00.

For our Applicants located outside the borders of South Africa, this fee can be paid with the first subscription fee according to the category of membership that is gained. Applicants located within the borders of South Africa will need to pay the Individual Assessment fee upfront.
